Celebrating the Importance of Fatherhood Involvement

HARTFORD, CT, June 26, 2012 – Governor Dannel P. Malloy recognized the Village for Families & Children's Fatherhood Week 2012 (June 11th - June 17th). The week of events highlighted the important role fathers play in their children's lives. Being an involved parent offers tremendous opportunity to positively influence the life of a child. The State of Connecticut encourages parents to play an active role in the lives of their children and to help build strong, healthy families.
Galo Rodriguez, President and CEO of the Village, said, "We are excited Fatherhood Week 2012 was recognized by the Governor. There was tremendous support for our Fatherhood Week 2012 events this year. We strongly believe that Kids Go Further With Fathers." The funds raised will go to the support Village programs.
Fatherhood Week 2012 kicked off with successful Foursomes for Fatherhood Golf Classic at Shuttle Meadow Country Club on June 11th. The Village Ride cycle tour and Summerfest at Ski Sundown brought the successful Fatherhood Week 2012 to a close on June 16th. The Ride raised an outstanding $90,000.00. Hundreds of spectators came to support 150 riders tour challenging and fun routes that journeyed through some of Litchfield and Greater Hartford Counties 'most beautiful areas. Riders and spectators celebrated the beautiful day at the post-ride party with food, cold beverages, and live entertainment. The Village is grateful to our presenting sponsors, Thomas Hooker Brewery and Aetna, along with our venue host, Ski Sundown. The 2013 Village Ride will take place on Saturday, June 15th at Ski Sundown Resort in New Hartford.
