14 of Cigna U.S. Individual Business employees volunteered at Village for Families and Children as part of Cigna's Day of Caring.
BLOOMFIELD, Conn. – Jan. 4, 2013 – Recently, a team volunteers from Cigna's U.S. Individual Business arrived at Hartford’s Village of Families and Children with cleaning supplies and paint brushes in hand…they even did windows. This effort was part of Cigna's Annual United Way Campaign Day of Caring in which 500 of Cigna'sConnecticut based employees volunteered in their communities to make a real difference in people’s lives.
“Cigna is committed to serving others, and that includes demonstrating that service in the communities where we live and work. This was a great opportunity for our group to learn more about the excellent work done by the Village for Families and Children. There’s also a lot of great team building that can happen when you roll up your sleeves to help others,” says Troy Milbrandt, Cigna U.S. Individual Business senior director who led this volunteer effort.
Hands-on volunteering is a cornerstone of Cigna's Civic Affairs program. In addition to the Day of Caring, Cigna encourages employees to take eight hours of paid work time to volunteer in their communities each year as part of Cigna's Community Service Program. Community involvement is an important piece of Cigna's comprehensive corporate responsibility initiative, Cigna Connects.

Seeing the group of volunteers from Cigna working together to make our facility shine was wonderful. Here at the Village, we understand the importance of teamwork and how it moves things forward to achieve greater outcomes for our families.”
