We are the Village–a vibrant community-based organization that provides behavioral health care and social services to over 6,200 children and families in the Greater Hartford Region each year. Our mission is “to build a community of strong, healthy families who protect and nurture children.”
We’ve been here for 200 years, first as an orphanage, then as a child welfare agency, and now as a multi-service organization. Our work has always been based on the Hartford community and the needs of its people. Our ability to change, our commitment to high-quality services, and our dedicated staff have helped the Village last as long as it has. Current services include residential and outpatient behavioral health treatment for children; adoption, foster care and family preservation services; and school- and community-based programs that promote education, positive youth development, asset building and self-sufficiency.
The Village values cultural competency and collaboration with community partners, and we are grateful for the many government agencies, private foundations, corporations, and individuals who support our work. We work hard to measure our program outcomes and improve our programs to ensure that we are providing the best possible services for our clients at all times. As we continue to grow and change, we hope to serve Hartford and its residents for another 200 years.
