PREDOCTORAL INTERNSHIP
TRAINING PROGRAM
IN PROFESSIONAL PSYCHOLOGY
About the Internship
The Village for Families & Children, Inc., sponsors
four full-time, one-year internships which include competitive,
agency-supported stipends, along with vacation time, holidays,
sick leave, medical benefits and malpractice insurance.
Requirements
- Third or fourth-year students in doctoral programs
in psychology
- Students from APA-approved clinical or combined
clinical/school programs strongly preferred
- Experience/practica in diagnostic and treatment
methods (minimum 1,200 hours)
- Experience with children and families required;
experience with trauma and abuse preferred
Multi-service agency
- Outpatient mental health services for children
and families
- Day treatment programs for children
- Residential programs
- School-based Family Resource Centers
- Community outreach clinics
- Adoption Program
- Therapeutic Foster Care Program
- Research and Planning Department
- Collaborative programs with other agencies
Populations served
- Ethnically and culturally diverse clientele
- City of Hartford and suburban families
- Children and adolescents with a wide range of
presenting problems
Supervision and training
- Individual and group supervision by experienced
psychologists
- Supervision in assessment, treatment and consultation
- Video taping
- Seminar series and agency-sponsored workshops

- Individual, family and group therapy
- Psychological evaluations
- Consultation to agency staff
