ELEMENTARY SCHOOL LITERACY SMALL
GROUP TUTOR
Volunteer tutor to work with
early elementary grade students in small group after school literacy
development activities.
Hours: Monday through Wednesday, 2
hours a day from 3:15 to 5:15 P.M. (6 hours a week)
Requirements:
* work or volunteer experience with children in literacy activities
* post-high school education/college education majors preferred
* need a responsible literacy model who can encourage children
to enjoy reading
Place: Mary M. Hooker School Family
Resource Center
200 Sherbrooke Avenue, Hartford.
Length of committment:
Program runs for 30 weeks - approx. October to May 2004
Tutors should be able to commit to at least a semester. (Preference
will be given to those who can commit longer.)
Training: current research-based literacy
strategies training provided by certified professionals (Hartford
Public School staff)
