Gifts of Tangible Personal Property (gifts-in-kind)

For donations of personal property over $500, the donor must complete the appropriate IRS forms for tax deduction purposes; for property having a value of $5,000 or more, the donor must obtain a qualified, independent appraisal.

Mutual Funds

Please contact the Village for appropriate letters of instruction to your mutual fund company.

Planned Gifts

For information on bequests, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder or lead trusts, pooled income funds, and other ways to include the Village in your estate plans, please contact the Development Office at (860) 297-0543.

Life Insurance

The Village must be named as both beneficiary and irrevocable owner of a policy for gifts of life insurance. For additional information, please contact the Development Office at (860) 297-0543.

Corporate Matching Gifts

You may be able to significantly increase the value of your gift to the Village if you are employed by a company with a matching gift program. Some employers will also match contributions of spouses, directors and retirees. Please contact you Human Resources department for the appropriate forms.

Commemorative Gifts

Make a lasting tribute to a friend, colleague, or loved one. A gift “in honor” of someone is usually made while that person is living. A gift “in memory” is the term used when the namesake is deceased.

There are many ways to make a commemorative gift. All the financial strategies of planned giving apply, or you may make an outright gift. Specific recognition opportunities are available.
