CHILD PSYCHIATRIST/ASSISTANT MEDICAL DIRECTOR

 

JOB SUMMARY:       Responsible for provision, coordination and oversight of psychiatric care of children in specific programs. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Clinical responsibilities consist of providing psychiatric assessment, evaluation, psychopharmacological follow up and monitoring of children’s treatment.  This includes back-up to psychiatric consultants and clinical staff as needed.  Respond to after hour emergencies of clients in psychiatric care.  Supervision of psychiatric nursing staff as assigned by Medical Director.  Provide consultation and training to clinical staff in addition to providing documentation as required by agency practices and licensing requirements. 

 

Professional and leadership and community responsibilities consist of representing the Village in diverse forums as requested by Medical Doctor, Chief Operating Officer including Psychiatric and academic communities.  Collaborate with research and grants staff to advance practice or seek funds for new initiatives.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  

 

  • CT State license

  • Board Certification in Psychiatry and Child including Adolescent Psychiatry

  • Cultural Competency to serve African American, Latino/Puerto Rican and West Indian families

  • Experience in evaluation and treatment of children in the child welfare system

  • Commitment to total quality management practices

  • Physically able to perform the essential functions of the position in a standard office environment, with or without reasonable accommodations, and the ability to interact with children and adolescents in a therapeutic environment/situation without risk of injury
