
Dr. Galo A. Rodriguez, MPH
The Board of Directors of the Village for Families & Children, Inc. (the Village), announced the appointment of Dr. Galo Rodriguez as President and CEO, effective June 5, 2006. Most recently Dr. Rodriguez has been Chief Operating Officer of Catholic Charities, Inc. His career includes positions of leadership with the Institute for the Hispanic Family, the Hartford Street Youth Project and the Hispanic Substance Abuse Program.
"The Board was impressed by Dr. Rodriguez's track record of outstanding leadership and his passion to build upon the many strengths of the Village," commented Francine Christiansen, Chair of the Village Board of Directors. "As we approach our 200th anniversary, we are confident that Dr. Rodriguez's professional expertise, proven management skills and thoughtful and strategic vision will enhance and expand our ability to improve the lives of children and families in our community."
Dr. Rodriguez has a Masters in Public Health from the University of Connecticut and received his training and licensure as a Doctor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Cartagena in 1981 in his native Colombia.
"I am excited to join an organization with a 200 year history of helping children and families in the region. My vision for this great organization will be to assure that the most vulnerable children and families have access to and benefit from quality and culturally competent services. I welcome the challenge of working together with the board, staff and community to continue making a life-changing difference in the lives of children and families," said Dr. Rodriquez.
